OCEANS ELEVEN PREQUEL in the works at Warner
According to the Hollywood Reporter Margot Robbie will star and produce a new OCEAN’S FILM helmed by Jay Roach, who directed her to a best supporting Oscar nomination with 2019’s drama BOMBSHELL.
Robbie played the role of Sharon Tate in Once Upon A Time In Hollywood and portrayed Harley Quinn in 3 films including The Suicide Squad in 2021. She’s currently shooting BARBIE for Warner, as the iconic toy in a feature she is also producing.
Robbie is pegged to produce the new OCEANS film with Tom Ackerley, her partner at production banner LuckyChap. Roach is also producing, along with his executive at shingle Everyman Pictures, Michelle Graham.
No details on the script by Carrie Solomon as of yet but it will be an original OCEAN’S ELEVEN set in Europe in the 1960s.
The project is in active development and the goal is to begin production in Spring 2023.
Warners’ OCEAN’s franchise was launched in 2001 featuring George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts, Matt Damon, and more. The original version of Oceans 11 in 1960 starred Rat Pack members Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Peter Lawford, and Joey Bishop. Steven Soderbergh directed 2 sequels, Ocean’s Twelve in 2004 and Ocean’s Thirteen in 2007, which make up the Ocean’s Trilogy. Ocean’s 8, a spin-off with an all-female lead cast, was released in 2018.
