The excitement grows and the anticipation builds for the release of ‘Turning Red’ the first ever animated film set in Toronto! Fans have spotted popular landmarks located in The 6 including the iconic CN Tower in the trailers released.
Directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker, Domee Shi and starring the voices of Rosalie Chiang, Sandra Oh, Ava Morse, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Hyein Park, Orion Lee, Wai Ching Ho and James Hong. It’s the first Pixar film to be solely directed by a woman, the first to take place in Canada, and the second to feature an Asian lead character after Up.

‘Turning Red’ is taking it back to the early 2000s. So there’s no shiny glass condos, no new electric cars and the domed ballpark home of the Jays currently known as The Rogers Centre will be taking it’s original name!

The SkyDome lives in this film and many Torontonians still love the original name! The SkyDome brand has been gone for 17 years but many fans are overjoyed to see the attention our ballpark is getting. Our beloved Blue Jays gave the Pixar movie a shoutout on Twitter.
